DUNCANVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Duncanville Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Hustead St.

The man, who CBS 11 has learned is a father of 5, was found dead sitting in the driver's seat of his truck, by his brother shortly before 7 am.  Jose Ricardo Vargas, 37, was reportedly on his way to work his construction job.

Neighbor Shane Sellman says he saw Vargas' brother early this morning, "At about 7 o'clock in the morning there was a Hispanic gentleman by the truck. He was screaming.  He was looking at his hands. He was calling for somebody."

One of the residents of the complex, LaTonya Ransom, spoke to CBS 11's Stephanie Lucero about what she heard as she was getting her daughter ready for school this morning.

"I heard a man screaming, but I couldn't make out what he was saying.  Then, I heard a lady ask, 'Are you guys OK?' She asked them that twice, and I heard him yelling, 'No, I am not okay.' I was going to call the police, but by the time, I got my phone to call the police, the polcie were already here," said Ransom.

Police are investigating it as a murder, and neighbors say there was a single bullet hole in the driver's side window.

"It was like a bullet hole in the glass, approximately 8 inches across. The whole window was shattered but the glass was still standing," said Michael Arnold.
