FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The puppies were found in a torn plastic bag on the side of the bridge not far from JPS Hospital. A passerby with a good eye moved them underneath a shady tree and though not all survived, many dog lovers in the neighborhood are determined to nurse the little guys to health.

When they're not napping or sunbathing, they're eating. Every two hours Brad SSmith and his wife Lacey bottle feed the dogs. Brad's already grown close to Brutus who's twice the size of his brothers and sisters.

Kind of a beastly little dog and barks and growls. In comparison they're much different," says Brad Smith.

It's hard to believe nearly a week ago the litter of 10 was found abandoned In a plastic bag, dumped by the bridge on the east side of South Main Street. Thrown out like garbage.

"I think it's pretty low," says Rudy Martinez who owns a business near where the dogs were found.  A passerby alerted him to the find.

Martinez called Fort Worth police officer Gigi Hemstead. She started taking care of the dogs immediately, including bottle-feeding them. Three of the ten pups didn't survive.  All were in bad shape.  Malnourished and dehydrated.

The foster family, who volunteers with Cody's Friends Rescue say the puppies need round the clock care to survive. But Wednesday a blue pit bull momma was found wandering near the same location the pups were found. Brad Smith hopes it might be a clue to solving this disturbing crime.

"You'll get what's coming to you," says Smith addressing whomever may have done this.
