Drunk Driver Kills Young Mother In Garland

GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - A 28-year-old Garland dispatcher is dead and her two children are hospitalized after an early morning collision on Interstate 635.

Crystal Nuncio was driving with her 9-month-old son and 10-year-old daughter when a drunk driver traveling the wrong way near Jupiter Road collided head-on into Nuncio's Chevrolet HHR.

Nuncio died at the scene. Her children were transported to Children's Medical Center of Dallas. The 9-month-old is expected to recover; 10-year-old Ally is in critical condition.

There is a gofundme site set up to help pay for the kids' medical care.

The drunk driver has been identified as Luis Angel Rodriguez of Grand Prairie. Rodriguez is facing one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.

According to the Garland Police Department, Crystal was employed in the Communications Unit where she worked as a police and fire dispatcher for the past 9 years.
