DALLAS (CBS11) - Dallas Police say their child exploitation detectives have started getting tips after releasing the photo of a man suspected of molesting two little girls at the Linda Vista Apartments on Maham Road. Now parents are hoping someone who knows this man will come forward.
As word spread about the eight- and 10-year-old little girls allegedly molested in their apartment complex's laundry room, parents like Bianca Hernandez began to worry about their own children's safety.
"I get scared 'cause I have a 10-year-old too," Hernandez said.
Police say when the parents were unable to find the man on their own, they did not immediately report the crime. Then Saturday, the girls say the man returned, and one of the parents was able to take a photo of the suspect.
"It looks pretty clear, so I hope they do find the guy and take him wherever he has to be," Hernandez said after looking at the photo.
But while the search continues for the alleged child molester, parents like Veronica Del Toro say residents have to also be proactive in watching over their children.
"Unfortunately, yes, we have a lot of kids around seven- eight-o'clock at night still playing outside without adult supervision, and for me, I think that's one of the things, the parents, we should be concerned about it," Del Toro said.
She hopes this case will encourage more of her neighbors to attend community meetings and talk to police officers who patrol the area.
"The cops also are always here trying to talk to us. I mean, I don't know what else they can do about it. They're always here trying to talk to us. It's just the residents are not putting attention on the things that happen," Del Toro said.
An employee at the apartment complex says they will also be distributing the photo of the suspect to residents.
Police are asking anyone who recognizes the man in that photo to contact them.
