Deputies Wound Suspect While Serving Warrant In Henderson County

HENDERSON CO. (CBSDFW.COM) -- Henderson County Sheriff's Deputies returned fire and wounded a man while serving a felony warrant on Tuesday near Larue.
According to Sheriff Ray Nutt, four Deputies drove to a residence to serve a felony evading arrest warrant on Jamie Lawrence Meador, 30, of Brownsboro.
Meador was spotted riding a four-wheeler on the property. When a uniformed deputy approached the suspect, Meador grabbed an AR-15 assault rifle and fired at deputies.
Two deputies returned fire, striking Meador multiple times. He was disarmed and found to be carrying a semi-automatic pistol, along with marijuana and suspected methamphetamines.
Meador was transported via helicopter to EMTC Tyler and is in stable condition.
The Texas Rangers were called in to investigate the shooting. During the investigation, multiple firearms were located.
The Sheriff's Office expects to charge Meador with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance, theft, and attempted capital murder.
