DPD releases video of robbery that led to officer-involved shooting

DALLAS - Dallas police say one suspect is hospitalized in critical, but stable condition after exchanging gunfire amid a robbery early Sunday morning.

Just after midnight Sunday morning, police officers responded to a report of a robbery at an illegal gaming room in the 2900 block of W. Wheatland Road.

As officers approached the business, two suspects ran out of the building. One of them, 23-year-old Reginald Curry, was running from officers when he turned, pointed a weapon, and fired a shot across his shoulder at the officers.

DPD officers told Curry to drop his weapon, but he refused and continued shooting at them.

The officers returned fire, hitting the suspect in the leg and chest area. Dallas Fire and Rescue arrived and Curry was taken to the hospital. There is no information on the other suspect.

Curry will be charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a public servant.

No officers were injured and te investigation is ongoing.
