Dallas Officers Speak About Dramatic Water Rescue

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Friday the Dallas officers whose body camera caught a dramatic water rescue tell their accounts of what happened.

Five DPD officers were involved in the rescue of a driver who crashed his car into a creek in Southeast Dallas.

One officer wearing a body cam captured every step.

Richard Dellatore is the officer with a baton smashing the window to access the driver.

But it's officer Amy Anderson who jumps into that cold water, sticks her head in the car, talks to the man, and they pull him from the crashed car.

"You're just going to automatic mode," explains officer Amy Anderson. "Your thought process is how do you get them out, are they okay. You don't worry about yourself you worry about them."

"It's good to do something good and see what we do live as it happens," says Officer Dellatore.

The man in the crash is fine. Police have not been identified.
