Dallas Man Indicted For Aiming Laser Pointer At DPS Helicopter

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A federal grand jury has indicted Orlando Jose Chapa, 37, of Dallas on one count of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft.

Special agents with the FBI arrested Chapa Wednesday. He was released on bond Thursday.

According to the indictment, on or about May 30, 2015,  Chapa knowingly aimed the beam of a laser pointer at a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter and at the flight path of that aircraft.

If convicted, Chapa could face five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
