Dallas Man Beaten, Robbed By Group After Gay Pride Parade

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -  Police say four men attacked a 29-year-old man who was walking to a friend's home around 9:15 Sunday night at the intersection of Sylvester and Wycliff.

Dallas police say the suspects assaulted the victim with their hands, feet and a baseball bat. They also robbed the victim.

Police say the victim suffered a fractured skull and numerous cuts and bruises. He's hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say during the prolonged attack the suspects made numerous derogatory statements referencing the victim's perceived sexual orientation. After removing the victim's property, the suspects continued assaulting him and using hate speech.

This happened after the Allen Ross Freedom Parade to celebrate LGBT pride, a day of historical significance in the LGBT community. Preliminary investigation indicates that this offense meets the criteria of a hate crime.

The DPD Robbery Unit is canvassing for witnesses and video evidence.
