DALLAS COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) — Officials say a motorcyclist is dead after crashing during a chase on I-30 Sunday morning.

Dallas County Sheriff's Department said a deputy tried to pull the motorcycle over and reported around 12:30 a.m. that the motorcyclist did not stop around the Sylvan Avenue exit of westbound I-30. A chase began, and five units responded.

The motorcyclist crashed near the entrance ramp to President George Bush Turnpike, the department said, and was taken to a hospital in serious condition. The driver died at the hospital, according to the department.

The department said Sunday morning the driver's identity would not be released pending family notification.
