FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A major roadway in west Fort Worth was temporarily closed early Wednesday morning because of a natural gas line that was cut. The incident happened at around 5:00 a.m. along Las Vegas Trail, just south of Interstate-30.

According to officials with the Fort Worth Police Department, a driver who was texting lost control of their vehicle in the southbound lanes of road. The car jumped over a curb and ran over the gas meter.

Crews from Atmos Energy arrived at the scene to shut off the meter, and the Fort Worth Fire Department doused the area with water as an extra precaution. No evacuations or injuries were reported.

Authorities had to shut down Las Vegas Trail between the interstate and Calmont Avenue while crews were working on the gas meter. The roadway has since opened back up to regular traffic.
