MCKINNEY (AP) - A custodian at a middle school in McKinney has been injured in a fire involving cleaning equipment.

McKinney assistant fire chief Tim Mock said that a possible fire in the cafeteria of Frisco Independent School District's Scoggins Middle School was reported just before 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. Mock said that the custodian was using a floor buffer when it came into contact with a can that caught fire and burned the employee.

The custodian, who has not been identified, was taken by medical helicopter to a local hospital.

The school was evacuated before staff and students returned to the building at 11 a.m. District officials say no students were in the area at the time of the incident.

District officials are working with the fire department to determine the cause of the fire.
