ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- Dallas Cowboys starting middle linebacker Rolando McClain left the NFC Wild Card game against the Lions in the first half and did not return.

The team said McClain was being evaluated for an "illness/dehydration."

McClain, arguably the Cowboys most valuable defensive player this season, appeared to be undergoing concussion tests on the sideline.

Head coach Jason Garrett confirmed McClain's condition after the game.

"He had concussion-like symptoms and that's why he had to come out of the game," said Garrett. "So we'll continue to monitor him. He came into the locker room and he went home already, so we've just got to see how he does when he comes in."
