Cowboys Add Ex-First-Round WR Draft Pick AJ Jenkins

IRVING (105.3 THE FAN) - The Cowboys' street-free-agent workout late last week was ballyhooed due to the presence of "name'' running backs. But for now, the temporary "keeper'' out of the bunch is wide receiver A.J. Jenkins.
Jenkins, sources tell 105.3 The Fan, is signing a deal to stick with Dallas for the OTAs that begin today at Valley Ranch. He will undoubtedly demonstrate speed during practices, as he did during the tryout session that also featured running backs Ben Tate, Daniel Thomas and Felix Jones.
The 6-0, 200-pound Jenkins entered the NFL as the 49ers' first round selection in the 2012 NFL Draft at No. 30 overall out of Illinois. He caught zero passes as a rookie and then was traded to Kansas City, where he caught 17 passes for 223 total yards and zero touchdowns in 28 total games with the Chiefs.
At this point, he's largely a "camp body'' as Dez Bryant is without a contract and staying away from OTAs.
