Cooler Weather Continues, Rain Does Not
Heavy rain continues to slowly move across north Texas. Flood Warnings are still in effect across our Red River counties and east of Dallas:
We had some VERY heavy rain overnight across Cooke, Denton, Collin and Rockwall Counties.
Some of our Weather Watchers reported in during the overnight hours. All three reported rain amounts over 3"
The frontal boundary and surface low that produced the big rain is slowly moving east. We are keeping rain in the forecast for the metroplex for today but only a 30% chance. Mostly it'll be low clouds and light rain but a few storms are possible with the daytime heating:
The clouds and north winds will keep temperatures down as a cold front moves through this morning. We are expecting yet another day in the 80's:
Notice how little it moves east by tomorrow morning. We'll continue to see clouds and brisk north winds with the low so close to us. This means a very cool start to August. It'll dry out for the weekend; the sunshine will get us in the low 90's. Very reasonable for the time of year.
No 100° days forecast for the first week of August??? Really. Its been five years since we've had a single day NOT be in the triple-digits at DFW:
Not much going yet in the Hurricane season. We expect the second named storm of the season to form over the weekend:
