AUSTIN (AP) -  Austin-area authorities are searching for an inmate who fled from a hospital where he was being treated for an unknown medical condition.

Travis County Sheriff's Office spokesman Roger Wade said Sunday 24-year-old Dacious June Parker remained at large more than 36 hours after he was seen fleeing on foot from University Medical Center at Brackenridge about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

A corrections officer assigned to watch Parker at the hospital stepped out of Parker's room briefly, and when he returned the inmate was gone.

Parker had been in jail awaiting transport to a Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility after being convicted of a felony in early June.

He was taken to Brackenridge on June 23 for medical treatment.
