Clean Up Underway After Storms Blow Through

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Residents in east Fort Worth and west Arlington have a long evening of cleaning up after severe thunderstorms pounded neighborhoods Thursday afternoon.
Some homeowners said they heard the rushing sound of wind. After the storms blew through, they were surprised to see trees on cars and homes and a number of fences blown down.
One concentrated area of damage appears to be Cooks Lane near Castanada in east Fort Worth. Residents said no one in their neighborhood was hurt.
However, there is quite a bit of property damage. Several homes had shingles missing and the debris blown several blocks away after the storms swept through.
At one home, part of a tree split and fell on a car. And at another home, a man could only stare at a big tree that was ripped from the ground by the wind and toppled over onto a house.
Traveling down several streets including Valley Crest and Gardendale, there was fence after fence that wasn't left standing after the storm. Neighbors had started to come out to survey the damage and take pictures.
By early evening, the sound of chainsaws could be heard in neighborhoods as homeowners began the tedious process of cleaning up after the storm.
