GRAPEVINE (CBSDFW.COM) - As the investigation continues into a deadly officer involved shooting regarding a Grapevine Police officer, the City of Grapevine is asking its citizens to reserve judgment.

On February 20, a Grapevine officer shot and killed a man following a high speed chase and traffic stop that began in Grapevine and ended in Euless, according to police. The man was later identified as 31-year-old Ruben Garcia Villalpondo.  Some of his family members have seen the dash cam video and have called for it to be released to the public.

"Police officers used unnecessary violence, and especially with the language that was going toward my brother-in-law" says Fernando Romero.

In a statement released Tuesday, the City of Grapevine said, "As is often the case with this type of issue, you may hear or read some information about the officer involved and our police department. Sometimes, that information may be incomplete or misleading. In order to conduct a fair and impartial investigation, the investigating agency has refrained from releasing material such as dash cam video of the incident or other information at this time. It is our hope that the public will withhold judgment until the investigation is complete..."

Last week, Grapevine Police said the dash cam video would be released by the end of this week.  Euless Police are conducting the investigation because the shooting occurred within Euless city limits.
