City Of Dallas Dismantles Another Homeless Camp

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Another Dallas homeless camp has been cleared out, leaving several people without a place to lay their heads.
Nearly 100 homeless people have lived in a 'tent city' under I-30 at Haskell Avenue.
Ron Cowart with the city of Dallas' Crisis Intervention Unit says most of the people will scatter and form new tent cities - leaving the city to deal with the problem again in a few months.
"Every person here has a story, (some have had) a number of traumatic things in their life that drove them to make life in a box, or in a tent under a desolate overpass," said Cowart.
A Homeless Commission appointed by Mayor Mike Rawlings has completed a report on the problem, but the Commission's chairman says most of the proposed solutions will take years to implement.
