DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Six months after an attack on the Dallas Police Department's headquarters, Dallas City Council voted to make security upgrades to the building.

However that vote is the beginning of a long road.

Wednesday members agreed to spend $125,000 to hire a consultant to make recommendations.

It's expected to cost upwards of $6 million to receive all the necessary upgrades -- including bulletproof windows.
