Arlington ISD student rescued after getting stuck head-first in storm drain

Child stuck head-first in storm drain, rescue underway

ARLINGTON (CBSNewsTexas.com) – A student has been rescued from a storm drain at an Arlington elementary school.

The scene was at Swift Elementary School on Fielder Road, north of Park Row Drive.

CBS News Texas Chopper video clearly showed the child's legs in the parking lot and his upper torso covered by the storm drain.

Arlington fire says the student was an 11-year-old girl who was carrying her grandmother's apron for career day. She lost control of it, it went into the storm drain and she tried to get it but got stuck.

Arlington firefighters rescued the student over an hour after she got stuck.

The student was taken to a hospital to be checked out.
