CEDAR HILL ( CBSDFW.COM) - Thieves may have taken their horse riding equipment but not their spirit, and certainly not the sense of community in Cedar Hill.
Last week the Kowboys Kowgirls Kids and Horses had all their saddles and other equipment stolen from their Cedar Hill stable.
Program administrators thought their planned 4th of July ride with the kids was ruined, but thanks to the community that was not the case.
Bobby Vance who helps run the program said, "For them to pitch in and help us bring it back together says a lot."
Once folks from Cedar Hill heard about what had happened they donated new saddles and all the horse care equipment they needed to have their Fourth of July weekend ride as originally planned.
Scores of kids came out on Sunday to care for and ride the horses.
Sheldon Wilhite was one of them.
Wilhite said, "'I'm glad they bought us some stuff too to help us ride with the other kids."
Cedar Hill police are still trying to find whoever stole the equipment.
