7+ Hour Carrollton Police Standoff Ends, Armed Suspect Arrested

CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Carrollton police were in a standoff with an armed suspect  for more than seven hours on Friday.

Oolice were called to a home in the 2900 block of Country Place Drive, just west of Marsh Lane, around 3:15 a.m. The caller said that a man at he house, Mushtaq Khalaf, had a loaded weapon and was in a fight with his wife and several other people, outside in the front yard.

According to investigators, when officers arrived Khalaf, 34, fired at least two shots at them and ran inside the house. No one was injured.

SWAT teams were called to the scene and after exhaustive communication Khalaf was ultimately taken into custody safely. He is now in the Carrollton City Jail facing Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charges.
