Can Using Mobile Devices Give You Wrinkles?

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The world of technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, but is the accelerated rate of innovation "evolving" our faces a bit too rapidly as well?

Perhaps surprisingly, staring too much at electronics, specifically handheld devices that force us to awkwardly place our head and neck, can prompt the development of wrinkles and lead to the phenomenon known as TechNeck.

The cities of San Francisco, Seattle and Austin rank the highest along with Washington DC, New York, and Boston are ranked the highest for too much screen time.

Also, binge watching streaming television can result in a decreased blink rate, drier eyes and a higher possibility of wrinkling and irritation. The cities with urban lifestyles that are most at-risk including Dallas, Washington DC, San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

Regions most addicted to social networking include high-tech hotspots like San Francisco, Seattle and San Jose and business hubs such as New York, Boston and Washington DC. As much as one may enjoy "liking," the uncomfortable angle of news feed scrolling can be a contributor for premature wrinkles and not very worthy of a "thumbs up."

In addition to use of technology devices and screen time a variety of factors that can affect the rate at which skin ages, include sun exposure and stress.
