BURLESON (CBSDFW.COM) — Burleson Police Department has designated the parking lot at its new police station an "exchange zone," the city said.

Residents can use the spot at 1161 SW Wilshire Blvd. to exchange merchandise they buy or sell, such as for transactions arranged through Craigslist or on social media websites.

The city said the department took the step to create "a safer way to meet a stranger instead of them coming to your home or meeting at an unsecured location." It also said meeting at the police station parking lot can cut down the chance of robbery.

Parents and guardians can use the location to exchange children for custody or visitation times as well.
