Body Of Missing Kayaker Found In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) -- Police believe they have recovered the body of a missing kayaker in Fort Worth, two days after the 21-year-old disappeared.

Several witnesses report seeing Tyler Smith kayaking on Sunday without a life jacket. According to authorities, the man was expected to return on Sunday by 5 p.m.

A jogger spotted the body on Tuesday morning along the bank of the Trinity River and alerted authorities.

Fort Worth Police are on scene to recover the body, which is in a remote area that has rough terrain. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will then make a positive identification.

The search began on Monday morning. Divers and a canine unit were brought in to help.
