Body Of Missing Dallas Girl Found In Vacant Apartment

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A five-year-old girl, who was initially reported as missing, was found dead Sunday afternoon in a vacant apartment in Northeast Dallas.

The victim has been identified as Kathrine Alejandra Gonzalez

Police officers were called to the Sontera Palms Apartments around noon in the 9500 block of Royal Lane to search for a missing five-year-old girl.

After searching for nearly two hours, an officer found the girl's body in a vacant apartment.

Detectives said several people have been taken down to police headquarters for interviews, but Major Robert Sherwin declined to answer whether the police had a suspect.

Neighbor Janicqua Washington joined in the search for the girl and said she was heartbroken to learn the girl was found above her own apartment.

"For something like that to happen right here, under us like that, is like, 'Wow'," she explained. "We should not have missed that. We should have seen something. Someone should have seen something."

Neighbors told CBS11 News they recalled seeing the young girl earlier Sunday playing with her cousin in the courtyard of the apartment complex.

"You have to keep your eye on your child," said Washington. "You just have to."
