IRVING (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Police say three Irving firefighters have been hurt and a trucker killed when his 18-wheeler hit a ladder truck stopped at a DWI scene.

Irving police Officer Steve Burres says the firetruck rolled after being hit early Sunday. The tractor-trailer rig ended up on its side and caught fire along Highway 183.

Burres says three firefighters, who were thrown from the firetruck that had emergency lights activated, were transported to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Police say the 55-year-old trucker, Ilian Lalev, died at the scene. Authorities believe he may have suffered some type of medical problem before the accident.

Burres says a man suspected of drunken driving was arrested in the original single-vehicle accident. Another driver who hit a stopped patrol car at the site also faces a DWI count.
