Batiste Named Colbert's "Late Show" Bandleader

NEW YORK (RADIO.COM) - The relationship between David Letterman and Paul Shaffer as late night host and bandleader was one that lasted over many decades, which is why many have been awaiting the revelation of Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" bandleader with bated breath.

Well, wait no more. He's here and his name is Jon Batiste.

Batiste was revealed as the bandleader for "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Thursday. The show premieres on CBS on September 8.

"His music makes the audience feel so good, we may have to install a 'Do Not Make Love' sign," Colbert said in a press statement.

Added Batiste, "I'm thrilled! This is a match made in heaven. Get ready for a love riot in late night."
