Suspect Found Dead, Baby Safely Recovered After SWAT Standoff At Apartment In Wilmer

WILMER, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A suspect was found dead and a child was safely recovered after a SWAT standoff at an apartment complex in Wilmer, authorities say.

Wilmer police and the sheriff's department responded to the Emli at Liberty Crossing Apartments at around 3:00 a.m. after reports of a man inside a unit who fired shots and had a young child with him.

According to authorities, the suspect's wife ran from the apartment with their 1-year-old child and told police that the man was acting violently. She said he was still inside the unit with their 2-year-old child.

Through the early morning, authorities evacuated the complex and called the SWAT team. At around 8:15 a.m., the tactical team made entry into the unit.

The Dallas County Sheriff's Department said the 2-year-old child was safely recovered. The suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Marcus Williams, was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and what led up to it.
