DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - There is a huge mess to be cleaned up after someone smashed into a Dallas grocery store, trying to steal an ATM machine.

Thieves tried to pull of the heist at the Tom Thumb on Meadow and North Central Expressway.

Police say, two suspects in a pickup rammed the storefront several times trying to get to the machine.  A large concrete flower pot, weighing several hundred pounds, near the door may have hampered their efforts.

In the end, the suspects were unsuccessful and simply rove away from the scene. Hours later, their damaged pickup was found abandoned nearby.

There were two store employees inside during the robbery attempt. They took cover, called 911 and were not injured.

Investigators are collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance video from the grocery store and other businesses in the area. They have not released any suspect descriptions.
