HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Astros say minor league pitcher Jose Rosario was killed in a motorcycle crash in the Dominican Republic.

The team said Monday the 20-year-old Dominican died Sunday night.

Rosario pitched the last two seasons in the Astros minor league system, splitting 2015 between the Dominican Summer League and the Gulf Coast League. He was signed by the Astros as an 18-year-old minor league free agent in 2013.

Oz Ocampo, who oversees international operations for the Astros, called the lanky, outgoing pitcher a "true student of the game" who was "constantly looking to learn and improve his abilities." Ocampo says Rosario had "tremendous" ability to go with an "ever-positive disposition."
