McGEHEE, Ark. (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Police in McGehee, Arkansas said an escapee from the city jail was recaptured in Texas.

Police Chief Jim White told reporters that authorities acting on a tip found and arrested 40-year-old Jeremy Lynn Barnett on Friday in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Barnett was being held at the McGehee Criminal Justice Facility on a parole violation and was awaiting bed space at Arkansas Department of Correction.

Police said he escaped Oct. 8 through a small hole in the recreation yard fence while the on-duty jail officer was distracted.
