Area High School Football Teams Spiking Cancer With Touchdowns

LAKE WORTH (CBS11) - Some North Texas High School football teams are joining in on a national campaign to fight pediatric cancer's.
Lake Worth High School is among those participating in Touchdowns Against Cancer.
The campaign is spearheaded through MaxPreps, a high school football website.
It works by pledging money to your favorite high school team and then donating the money to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital every time they score a touchdown in September.
For Lake Worth High, the fight against childhood cancer is personal.
Junior Jayden Boone is a football player who was diagnosed with leukemia last year.
"They said I had cancer, and that was a bad day for me. It was bad," said Boone.
Boone has since made a full recovery and managed to score a 40-yard touchdown on his first carry since doctor's told him he could play again.
His amazing recovery and return to the football field has inspired the entire Lake Worth High community to rally in support of the Touchdowns Against Cancer campaign.
"We feel like this Touchdowns Against Cancer campaign is one more way we can help teach our players to be about more than themselves," said head coach Keri Timmerman.
Benbrook and Rockwall High Schools are also involved in the campaign.
