LINDALE/TYLER (CBSDFW.COM) — The American Red Cross is opening two shelters in East Texas for residents who are without a place to stay thanks to strong storms on Saturday.

The Red Cross is planning to send assessment teams on Sunday to areas where the storm caused damage to residential structures east of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, the organization said, since it's still too early to tell how much damage has been done.

Those who need a place to stay on Saturday can head to one of these shelters the Red Cross has a hand in opening.

  • First United Methodist Church at 402 W. Hubbard St. in Lindale
  • Red Springs Volunteer Fire Department at 16759 Farm to Market Rd. 14 in Tyler
