After Weekend Rain, More Storms
DFW logged the biggest rain since late February this morning, officially .75" fell. Many areas to the north and south of the Metroplex logged over an inch:
We spent the day in the 50's under a thick layer of clouds. Those clouds will continue to hover overhead with occasional mist or light rain tonight. We'll actually have temperatures warm overnight by a few degrees thanks to the south wind. Tomorrow starts grey with a light fog. It improves quickly to an 80° day:
We are right back to Spring weather with highs in the 80's this week teamed with a brisk south wind. Spring weather can also bring storm. Not much of a threat tomorrow but Tuesday the dryline could help fire up afternoon storms. The risk stays in the northwest corner of our area:
The cap will hold the storm risk low but on Wednesday the dryline will likely be more effective in getting storms to pop. The risk on Wednesday includes the Metroplex. These will likely be dangerous storms; low in number but big in wind and hail. The storm chance is only 20%.
On Thursday a large upper-level low will swing across the Central Plains and push the dryline into the Metro area just ahead of a cold front. The dynamics are much better to produce storms not only in north Texas but a large swath of the Oklahoma and Missouri. This could early become a major severe weather outbreak. The storm chance is 60% along the I-35 corridor and east:
The next rain/storm chance comes in on Saturday and Sunday of next week:
