After the Cold Front
Before the sun reached the horizon this Saturday morning a powerful cold front sweep through north Texas. Temperatures were actually in the 60's right before the front hit. Then they dropped down into the 40's teamed with powerful north wins. . This afternoon most locations will barely hit 50° briefly before plummeting tonight:
If you are a gardener, have pets who stay outside most of the time or have an automatic sprinkler system here is something you need to know. Its going to get all the way down to freezing and below tonight. Not only is DFW forecast to fall into the 30's for the first time this Fall, it's going to drop down to the first freeze of the season:
This will be a hard freeze (28° or lower for at least 4 hours) in counties to the west and north of the Metroplex. The last freezing temperature at DFW was March 7th, 259 days ago.
A WIND ADVISORY stays in effect until 3pm today. Gusts were clocked over 40mph this morning downing tree limbs and creating power outages. The wind dies down tonight and for Sunday, won't be as strong. A cold start but highs should reach into the low 50's:
Another major cold wave hits next week. Rain is in the forecast for Thanksgiving and Black Friday as yet another powerful upper-level low sweeps across the Midwest. It will drag even colder air into Texas as it passes east:
