ERATH COUNTY, Texas (1080 KRLD) - The man accused of killing decorated Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle will stand trial next week as scheduled.

Jury selection is scheduled for Thursday and Friday of this week and the testimony is to begin Wednesday of next in the capital murder trial of 28-year old Eddie Routh.

Routh is accused of killing Kyle and neighbor Chad Littlefield two years ago at the Rough Creek Lodge, about 80-miles SW of Fort Worth.

Today Routh's attorneys asked a judge to delay the case for two reasons.

First, yesterday was declared Chris Kyle day in Texas in honor of Kyle's military service. Secondly, because there's a major movie about Kyle, American Sniper.

But the judge declined and told attorneys to be ready to pick a jury later this week in Erath County.
