Abilene Christian Storms Past Ave Maria 55-14

ABILENE (AP) — Parker McKenzie threw for 304 yards and one touchdown in three quarters to lead Abilene Christian to a 55-14 win over NAIA's Ave Maria on Saturday.

ACU (4-3) jumped out to a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter when Herschel Sims, who finished with 86 yards on 10 carries, broke for a 39-yard score.

Ave Maria's Clayton Uecker passed to Brian Byrd from the 22 to tighten the score to 17-14 with 8:37 remaining in the half. It was all ACU after that as the Wildcat defense did not allow the Gyrenes to cross midfield in the second half.

Uecker amassed 323 total yards, throwing for 276 yards and two touchdowns.

Cade Stone was ACU's top receiver, pulling in eight catches for 121 yards with one touchdown. De'Andre Brown finished with 10 carries for 58 yards and three touchdowns.
