DALLAS (AP) - Public health officials have confirmed the seventh case of chikungunya virus disease in Dallas County.

Dallas County Health and Human Services says the patient was infected with the mosquito-borne virus during a recent trip to Honduras. Officials aren't identifying the person or giving other details to protect the patient's privacy.

The Dallas Morning News reports the patient will stay at home until symptoms of the infection have receded.

The virus causes high fever, joint pain, muscle aches and rash. Recovery typically takes about a week. Infections rarely result in death.

The Texas Department of State Health Services says there have been 66 cases of the virus since late December.
