MIDLOTHIAN (CBSDFW.COM) - It's been six months since fitness instructor Missy Bevers was bludgeoned to death and police aren't any closer to catching her killer. But investigators in Midlothian have new help trying to crack the unsolved murder.

It was on April 18 that Bevers was found murdered inside the Creekside Church of Christ. She had gone to the church in the early morning hours to set up for a Camp Gladiator workout class.

Surveillance video shows a suspect with a distinctive walk, dressed in police tactical gear, inside the church before Bevers arrived. The body of the 45-year-old was found less than an hour later by one of the fitness class participants. The video does not show the mother of three beaten and stabbed to death.

Now Midlothian have brought in a 'new set of eyes' to look at the case from a fresh perspective. Experienced homicide detectives from other departments and agencies are reviewing the Bevers case and trying to help put together pieces of the mystery.

While the killer has not been identified or caught, those who knew Bevers remain hopeful. "I've just come to the reality that we are not in control and worrying doesn't do us any good. Being frustrated doesn't do us any good," friend Renee Jones said, adding that memories keep everyone encouraged. "We still pray for the family. We still pray for Missy. We laugh, we tell jokes and every time we have a meeting we sit around and we talk about, "If Missy was here she'd do this…'"

Some of Bevers' friends and workout partners are planning a 5K run on November 5 to remember Bevers. "I think it's more important that we celebrate the things that she did while she was alive rather than the way she passed," friend Missy Phillips said. "It's a horrible thing and I want her killers to be caught, however I just choose not to focus on the negative."

Police say they've received more than 1,200 tips in the case.

Anyone who believes they have information about the murder of Missy Bevers or the wanted suspect is asked to call Midlothian police at 972-775-7624. Anonymous tips can also be made by calling Ellis County Crime Stoppers at 972-937-7297.
