Joseph's mother says he's always been treated with kindness.
"I've known from the beginning that these kids he goes to school with at GCISD are great kids. They've always treated him with respect just like he's a normal kid," says Kristina McTighe.
The crowd burst into cheers every time Joseph touched the ball and his teammates high-fived him whenever he came off the court.
The coach says Joseph always shows up on time to every game and to early morning practice.
