5 Injured After Truck Slams Into Illinois Starbucks, Causing Building Collapse

McHENRY, Ill. (CBS CHICAGO/AP) — Five people were injured, at least one of them critically, when a full-size pickup slammed into a Starbucks store in McHenry, Illinois causing the building to collapse.

Police say the injured included the driver of the truck and four people inside the store. Fist responders had to rescue one person from beneath the truck. In all, four people were taken to local hospitals -- the other was treated and released at the scene.

The Dodge Ram truck remained lodged in the building for hours because it was sitting on top of a natural gas line and couldn't be moved.

A police spokesman said for some unknown reason the driver lost control, hit a car in the drive-thru lane, went airborne, and slammed into the coffee shop.

McHenry is about 55 miles northwest of Chicago.
