1 dead, multiple injured after wrong-way crash near Dallas Galleria

Two people have died, and two others are hospitalized after a wrong-way crash in Dallas early Sunday morning, officials said.

According to a spokesperson with Texas DPS, the crash happened around 4:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway just north of I-635, near the Galleria.

The initial investigation indicates that a 2020 Dodge Durango was traveling the wrong way, northbound in the southbound lanes of the tollway, when the driver struck a 2018 Mercedes CLA250 head-on, according to Texas DPS.

The official said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and three other victims were transported to local hospitals. One of those victims later died from their injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Durango was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Texas DPS said intoxication is suspected.

The investigation is ongoing, and the names of those involved have not been released.
