2-Alarm Fire: Tires Burn At Drag Strip

DALLAS COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Fire-Rescue spent hours putting out burning pile of tires at the Yello Belly Drag Strip in unincorporated Dallas County near I-30 and Loop 12.

Dallas Fire-Rescue says the fire started as a grass fire and it spread to the tires on Thursday afternoon.

Thick, black smoke could be seen for miles.

Grand Prairie firefighters were also on the scene for a while.

Firefighters attacked the flames from a ladder truck and with water and foam.

There were no injuries reported and no evacuations.

The tires serve as a buffer at the track to keep racers from veering off into the woods.

The Dallas County Fire Marshals Office is overseeing the investigation.
