100-Year-Old World War II Veteran Passes Away In North Texas

KELLER (CBSDFW.COM) - A World War II veteran passed away in North Texas recently.
Woody Beard died at 100 years old. He served in North Africa and Italy.
His celebration of life was held in Keller Saturday afternoon.
"He was patched up one time after an artillery attack," said Louis Seldon, a friend of Beard. "Medic said go down and get your paperwork for a purple heart. And he said 'Naw, I got to get back to my men,' so he missed the opportunity to get the purple heart."
