2 Shot Dead, 2 Injured During Birthday Party At Oakland Art Gallery

OAKLAND (CBS/AP/BCN) -- Police say two people were killed and two others wounded outside a birthday party held at an Oakland art gallery early Sunday morning.

Around 12:53 a.m., officers near the 1400 block of Webster Street heard several gunshots nearby, police said.

When the officers arrived at the area where the gunshots had been heard, officers saw a large crowd of people attempting to flee from the 300 block of 15th Street.

Oakland officer John O'Reilly said a dispute had started inside the party and spilled outside, where at least two people opened fire.

A woman was also wounded in the shooting, and another man cut himself when he ran into a plate-glass window as he tried to avoid the gunfire.

O'Reilly says investigators are still trying to determine a motive in the shooting. No arrests have been made.

The party at Prime Development, an art gallery and vintage clothing store, was to celebrate a man's 20th birthday.
