St. Mary's College, Moraga Police Crack Down On Loud Parties Near Campus

MORAGA (KPIX 5) – For those partying hard in Moraga, be prepared to pay up. The town has teamed up with St. Mary's College to crack down.

"When I first moved here it was loud kind of loud," said Jack McLean of Moraga.

Neighbors complained and the city and police and cracked own. Fines were increased, and property owners were held accountable.

Since August, police have issued warnings to 38 people at 13 parties along Ascot Drive, near St. Mary's.

The college also teamed up with police, raising consequences for repeat offenders.

"The college has more stringent policies and repercussions for students for students who get numerous citations off campus," said Megan Karbley, the college's director of community life.

Penalties for repeat offenders include expulsion.

Moraga Police said while most of the house party problems were near campus, not all exclusively involed college students.
