21-Year-Old Man From Petaluma Missing In Nepal After Massive Earthquake Calls Home

PETALUMA (CBS SF) – A man who grew up in Petaluma who was missing after last week's earthquake in Nepal has been found alive, relatives confirmed Tuesday night.

21-year-old Spencer Dickinson was hiking toward Mount Everest when the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck.

Dickinson had been unaccounted for until he called his dad from a satellite phone Tuesday night, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. Dickinson reportedly asked his father to tell his mom he was OK.

A camera crew caught his mother's reaction in Southern California. "Yay, he's getting on a helicopter to Kathmandu," Lisa Rosenbush exclaimed.

Dickinson's cousin Haley Caldwell posted this tweet after he called home.

The newspaper reported that Dickinson last contacted his family on April 19th.

Dickinson is a 2011 graduate of Petaluma High School.
