Sheriff Deputies In Big Sur Taser Naked Man At Esalen Institute

BIG SUR (CBS SF) -- A combative man at a popular coastal spa had to be Tasered by Monterey County Sheriff deputies on Saturday.

Deputies were dispatched to Esalen Institute at 55000 state Highway 1 on a report of a man acting strangely and taking his clothes off during a class at about 5:25 p.m. on Saturday, according to sheriff's deputies.

Regan Henry Panto, 48, of Oak View, allegedly resisted deputies and became combative, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies had to use a Taser and pepper spray in order to subdue the man.

Panto was arrested and booked into county jail for indecent exposure and resisting officers.
